VAE support offers on EDOF: the Formacode activity domain obligation since 2026

Since 19 February 2026, a new piece of data has quietly slipped into the EDOF catalogue: the activity domain attached to every offer of support for validation of prior experience (VAE — validation des acquis de l’expérience). Many organisations that offer this kind of support discovered it while creating or editing an offer — some discovered it too late, when their offer vanished from candidates’ search results. Here is exactly what this obligation covers, its full timeline through the second half of 2026, and how to comply without losing visibility.

What changes: one offer, one activity domain

In practice, when you create or edit a VAE support offer in your EDOF catalogue, a new mandatory field appears: the activity domain targeted by your support offer. This domain corresponds to one of the 65 semantic fields of Formacode version 14, the classification framework already used by the France VAE public service to position career-support architects (AAP — architectes accompagnateurs de parcours).

Two constraints structure this new field:

• Only one activity domain per offer. You cannot tick several semantic fields on the same offer sheet.
• Only one offer per domain across your whole catalogue. You cannot duplicate two offers on the same activity domain — EDOF treats them as redundant.

In the interface, the field is filled in either by picking a value from a drop-down list of the 65 proposed domains, or by typing the three-digit code of the semantic field you are looking for and then confirming the matching result.

Why this obligation exists: making candidate search reliable

This change is not cosmetic. It answers a concrete problem on Mon Compte Formation: a VAE candidate searches for support by typing an occupation or a sector, not the name of a training organisation. Without a consistent classification, two equivalent offers could be indexed very differently depending on how each organisation had worded its free-text title. Formacode, already central to how continuing-education offers are structured, thus becomes the common language of VAE support as well — the same way it has long structured training offers listed on EDOF.

The full timeline, in four dates

19 February 2026	The activity domain becomes mandatory for any new or edited VAE support offer in the EDOF catalogue.
28 April 2026	Compliance deadline for offers already in the catalogue: past this date, an offer without an activity domain is no longer visible to candidates on Mon Compte Formation and can no longer receive new support requests.
9 July 2026	The activity domain and the RNCP certification targeted by the offer are now carried over automatically into every VAE file a candidate opens, with no way to edit them directly within the file.
Second half of 2026	The targeted RNCP certification must also be entered when the purchase order for the support service is sent.

This last step confirms the overall logic: EDOF is trying to lock in, upstream, the consistency between the offer as displayed, the certification actually targeted, and the file the candidate opens — rather than letting that consistency be worked out along the way during support.

How to correctly fill in the activity domain

1. Open the relevant VAE support offer sheet in your EDOF account, whether creating or editing it.
2. Locate the “activity domain” field added to the sheet: it sits at offer level, not at organisation level.
3. Search for the most relevant semantic field, either by keyword in the drop-down list, or by typing the three-digit Formacode code if you already use it for your other training offers.
4. Check that no other offer in your catalogue already uses that same domain. If it does, either merge the two offers or refine the domain chosen for one of them.
5. Save, then check how the offer displays to candidates on Mon Compte Formation in the days following the change.

For an organisation that supports candidates toward certifications in very different fields — for example a titre professionnel in retail and a diploma in the health and social care sector — the “one offer, one domain” rule means duplicating the support offer sheet as many times as needed, with a distinct domain each time, rather than keeping a single generic offer.

The link with your Qualiopi compliance

This EDOF obligation does not replace the requirements of the National Quality Framework that apply to VAE support. Indicator 1 on public information already requires clear information about the content and format of your services: the Formacode activity domain has to be consistent with what you describe elsewhere on your website and in your support programme, or you risk an inconsistency flagged during audit. Likewise, indicator 4 on needs analysis implies that the domain you choose genuinely matches the candidate’s project as identified in the preliminary interview, rather than a box ticked by default to maximise the offer’s visibility.

It is also worth recalling the underlying prerequisite: supporting VAE candidates requires holding a valid Qualiopi certification for the relevant category of actions, a condition for accessing France VAE funding.

What research shows about VAE drop-out risk

How clearly the support framework is presented to a candidate is not a mere administrative detail: it directly affects their odds of seeing the process through. A landmark study by Bernaud, Ardouin, Leroux and Declercq (2009), published in Psychologie du Travail et des Organisations on a sample of 162 candidates followed at different stages of their support, found that a clearly defined framework and a good perceived fit between the candidate and the support offered are among the factors that distinguish those who drop out from those who carry their VAE through to the jury. An inaccurately filled activity domain, which routes to your offer a candidate whose project does not actually match your field of expertise, recreates exactly that lack of fit right from the start of the process.

The mistakes that cost you visibility

• Leaving an existing offer without a domain after 28 April 2026: it becomes invisible, with no proactive alert in your EDOF account — only a regular check of your catalogue will catch it.
• Choosing an overly broad domain “to catch more candidates”: the mismatch with the candidate’s real project shows up later as drop-outs and poorly built files.
• Forgetting to check for domain duplicates between offers before saving a change, which blocks the update.
• Not planning ahead for the RNCP certification in the purchase order from the second half of 2026 onward — a field distinct from the activity domain but subject to the same upstream lock-in logic.
