How to obtain the EDUFORM label: conditions and steps in 2026

Obtaining the EDUFORM label is nothing like buying a certification from a private body: it is a process steered by the French Ministry of Education, ending in a ministerial decision after an audit and a review by a national commission. Here is what the official texts establish about the conditions and steps — and what belongs to the network’s internal procedures, on which only the academic services can give you precise answers.

Who can apply for the label?

EDUFORM was created by a decree of 24 February 2017 to guarantee the quality of the continuing vocational training delivered by the Ministry of Education’s network. The natural candidates are therefore:

• the GRETA — groupings of state secondary schools that pool their resources to deliver adult continuing education;
• the GIP-FCIP — academy-level public-interest groupings for continuing education and professional integration;
• the continuing-education structures steered by the academies (the ministry’s regional education authorities).

The founding texts also open the label to public or private structures preparing candidates for the Ministry of Education’s vocational diplomas. The framework: service commitments built on the national quality framework

The labelling audit relies on a good-practice framework registered with AFNOR under reference BP X50-762. It formalises service commitments covering the full journey of a training service:

The steps of the labelling process

The texts (the founding decree, a 2017 implementation circular, and the order of 18 December 2019 on the conditions for awarding and withdrawing the label) outline a five-stage journey:

1. Joining the academy’s quality process. The candidate structure enters the process steered by its academy: taking ownership of the framework, appointing leads, initial gap analysis.
2. Building the documentation system and self-assessing. Procedures, evidence, satisfaction surveys, complaint handling: the structure assesses its compliance with the commitments and closes the gaps before the audit. This is the longest phase.
3. Labelling audit. An audit conducted against the label’s framework verifies, on paper and in practice, that the service commitments are met.
4. National labelling commission. The commission reviews the audit results and recommends — or not — the labelling.

As for the precise calendar, the tooling provided to structures and the support available: these arrangements are managed internally by the ministry and the academies. The useful reflex is to contact your academy’s continuing-education department, which coordinates the process.

Costs and timelines: sticking to facts

Unlike Qualiopi certification, where certification bodies issue comparable quotes, there is no public price for EDUFORM labelling: the organisation of audits and their funding belong to the internal circuits of the ministry and its network. Be wary of any figure quoted without a source — we publish none.

On preparation timelines, the order of magnitude of any process built on the national quality framework applies: expect several months between joining the process and the audit, depending on documentation maturity and the size of the structure. A structure whose procedures are already alive — surveys actually used, complaints tracked, periodic reviews held — shortens this considerably.

Preparing the audit: lived compliance, not a perfect binder

Research on quality certifications sheds light on a point candidates underestimate: the value of the process comes from its real implementation, not from the certificate itself. A study by Charles Corbett, María Montes-Sancho and David Kirsch published in 2005 in Management Science, covering all publicly traded US manufacturers certified to ISO 9000, shows that performance improvements accompany the certification journey when it genuinely transforms practices. In other words: a documentation system built for the auditor, which the teams do not apply, produces audit findings and no operational benefit.

Concretely, for a GRETA or a GIP-FCIP:

• involve coordinators and trainers from the initial gap analysis — they are the ones who bring the service commitments to life;
• test the system through an honest self-assessment, or even an internal mock audit;
• lock down the most scrutinised cross-cutting processes: needs analysis, assessment of learning, collection and use of feedback, complaint handling.
