A voluntary approach open to any organisation in any sector.
Issued by: Accredited certification bodies (AFNOR Certification, Bureau Veritas, SGS…); Cofrac accreditation in France
Mid-sized or large training organisations, multi-activity groups, providers working with major accounts.
What this scheme covers
- C.1A generic quality management system: customer focus, process approach, risk management, continuous improvement (current version: ISO 9001:2015).
- C.2A three-year certification cycle with annual surveillance audits.
- C.3International recognition, useful beyond the French training market alone.
The link with Qualiopi
No equivalence: an ISO 9001-certified provider must still obtain Qualiopi for public funding. The methodological overlap is real, however (processes, complaint handling, continuous improvement), and it eases the Qualiopi audit.

The process, summarised
- 1.Formalise the quality management system (process map, quality policy, indicators).
- 2.Carry out an internal audit and a management review before the certification audit.
- 3.Pass the two-stage certification audit with an accredited body, then the annual surveillance audits.
FAQ — ISO 9001
+Does ISO 9001 exempt a provider from Qualiopi?
No. Before 2022, ISO 9001 was among the quality references accepted by some funders; since then, only Qualiopi opens access to public and pooled funding.
+Is ISO 9001 useful for a training organisation?
Mostly to structure a growing organisation, answer major-account tenders or work internationally: many of its requirements overlap with the French national quality framework.
+How long is ISO 9001 certification valid?
Three years, subject to annual surveillance audits, then a renewal audit.
