Certification of asbestos training providers (subsection 3)
Mandatory: training workers for asbestos removal and encapsulation (subsection 3) may only be delivered by providers certified for that purpose.

Providers of asbestos risk-prevention training for removal companies and their workers (operator, technical-management and site-management levels).
What this scheme covers
- C.1The initial, first-refresher and periodic-refresher courses required by the French Labour Code for subsection-3 activities.
- C.2Certified requirements: training platforms enabling realistic simulations (containment, airlocks, protective equipment), trainer qualifications, compliant content.
- C.3Distinct from subsection 4 (work on asbestos-containing materials), whose training is not subject to this provider certification.
The link with Qualiopi
SS3 asbestos certification is a sector-specific operating condition checked by clients and the labour inspectorate; Qualiopi remains the key to public and pooled funding. The two audits are separate and cumulative.

FAQ — Asbestos SS3 training
+Who must be certified: the removal company or the training provider?
Both, under different schemes: the removal company is certified for its worksites, the training provider for training subsection-3 workers.
+Does subsection-4 training require a certified provider?
No: provider certification is only required for subsection 3. SS4 training follows its own content and traceability requirements.
+What does the asbestos certification audit check?
Notably the training platform (realistic simulations), trainer competence, programme compliance and management of training certificates.
